Accession to Madrid Agreement and Protocol   December 20, 2003
On September 25, 2003, the Islamic Republic of Iran deposited with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), its instrument of accession to both the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol Concerning the International Registration of Marks. The Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol will enter into force with respect to the Islamic Republic of Iran on December 25, 2003 and applicants may designate Iran in an application for registration of an International trademark or may apply for the territorial extension to this country of an existing International Trademark since then. Accession of Iran to the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol brings the number of contracting parties of the Madrid System to 74
